I took a 10 minute drive, during that drive I must have been going 20mph, maybe. Either way I hit a pothole. Did I say pothole? I meant crevasse. Seriously, it was horrible, so bad that I pulled over to see if everything was okay with my car. So far everything seems okay, the wheels don't have any cracks in them, the steering is perfect still and reacts like it normally did and it seems aligned(it doesn't swerve one way or another) and all the things that are linked are still linked. Anyone, know any other ways to check for imperfections? Once again, I might be over reacting.

Where was this? You think that pothole was bad? India is way worse, go there then come talk to me. (it was right here where I realized who the author was, lol.) There's potholes there that swallow up whole cars and are like 5 feet deep. If you're on a motorcycle at night, going 20 mph and you hit one, you're dead.
SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, look up "killer potholes india" in google.

Lololol, I have been to India at least 5 times!! This one was bad though, it was at least 5 inches deep, it was ridiculous!

So have I! I actually learned to drive stick there. Driving is fucking suicidal there. But for an american pothole, thats pretty big. There's one I have to swerve around everyday on the road in front of my house. About 3 inches deep but a foot across.

There are an unbelievable about of potholes around my apartment. It just becomes a chore to drive around them. It was rainning and dark so I couldn't see a damn thing, and bam! Wasn't going very fast luckily.

Lucky you. I took my car upto 80ish. It was dark and there was a dip in the road. It wasn't even a pothole, it was just like a dip about to size of speed bump but upside down. And it was only on the right side of the road in one lane, and the rest of the four lanes were perfect. But my right tire went right over it. But I was luckily on my brakes, and i was down to 40 or 50 so it wasn't as bad. I made sure to get down with a flashlight and comb through every bit I possibly could under there. The shocks were supposed to be replaced in a few hundred more miles anyways, and everything was alright though and nothing broke. Lesson sorta learned.

I am going to lift the car up after classes, and see if I can find anything down there. Take the wheels off and everything(the two that hit the whole at least). I found an empty parking lot and did some really fast steering movements, and all seems normal, no noises either.

That's a good sign. When I get my project car, the first thing i'm going to do is beef up the steering, and suspension. I don't care if it has 90 hp. But I would drive along a flat road and let go of the wheel and see if it drifts at all. My mom's car misaligned because of a really bad pothole once.

I did that too, it is as straight as an arrow. No vibration either. I will have to check the tire for imperfections though, couldn't do that now, it was too dark for that.

Check for any issues with the alignment, that big of hit can knock some shit out of line. Also check for any movement in the ball joints and steering components. Hope it wasn't too bad of a hit. Also check for any bulges in your tires.

I'm guessing everything should be fine. If it really was only 20 mph, there shouldn't of been that much energy to break anything.

Should I check both sides? Also, should I just try and move the joints around? Alignment seems pretty good though, while moving straight the car didn't stray one way or the other when I let go of the wheel.
I am going to check the tires and wheels tomorrow, as it is dark out.

Hopefully not, although it would give me an excuse to buy new wheels and tires.

My parents would need to help me with that, shits expensive!!! I am just going to be doing wheels, then all the other money goes to paying my parents back.

Yeah it is. A decent pair of coil overs start at around $1000, the top of the line stuff...way too much. It's hard to work a job when you're taking 3 college classes in highschool, and actually want to sleep or have a social life. College, you turn into a zombie.

Give everything a good check if you can get the whole car up in the air. The steering could really only be affected on the opposite side. The ball joints could only be fucked on the side you hit, but it isn't a bad idea to check for play on the otherside. Really the tires are going to be the things to look out for, check the inside and outside sidewalls for bulges.
You may get lucky, I once hit a curb and bent two wheels and broke nothing else. . . not a proud moment in my life. . .

my wife just sent me this from her morning's ride. If she makes it home tonight we'll be putting the spare on! (Otherwise she'll be putting it on herself) i told her not to break any speed limits today.

Same thing happened to me last month. Except I was going 60. It made an extremely loud bang and actually hurt my elbow that was sitting on the door sill. But I couldn't find any damage and the tire is still holding air. So... You're probably alright.

check for tire bubbles on the sidewall, not just on the outside, but on the inside sidewall

I checked everything, and nothing is moving, all is rock solid. The tires are in perfect shape so that is great. Really put my mind at ease.
